Finally someone says it!

comment (0) But it doesn't matter if it feels right, we just do it, [relativism] reduces big ethical discussions down to the level to feeling. It's so immature it's sick! It separates people...in our culture today, when it comes to ethical discussions as soon as you dare discuss something important like marriage—don't you think that's important enough to be discussed?—as soon as you open your mouth, "Oh you're hurting everyone's feelings, don't you know that?" [19:01] ... We're a nation of silos now, separated from one another by our own emotionalism, our own egos. It's not about you, it's not about me, it's not about something we're disagreeing with, but it instantly becomes this first-grade level "You took my toy, you've hurt my feelings." There's no truth about anything, there's no limits. To say that relativism is the key to tolerance is an absolute joke. This is what keeps people in relativism, this is what drives relativism, that they presume that to love and accept people, you can't disagree about anything. Finally, somebody to express my frustration with the world, and even myself!! Other cool quotes If there's no truth to guide our love, that's abandonment. If there's no love to guide our truth, that's cruelty. You need both truth and love, or you got nothing. Never judge people. Jesus opened his arms to the whole world. But was he compromising on sin? No, He showed just how ugly sin is. Relativism takes the meaning out of life. Morals become a matter of personal preference, of taste, which leads countless lives into ruins as they decide things based on their feelings, not right and wrong. If your value system isn't based on something outside your own head, you are easy to manipulate. Your rights are arbitrary. Your rights, if they don't come from your dignity as a human person, where do they come from? From the state, from the most powerful, from whoever's the elected. This is why political campaigns take on messianic tones. If the founding fathers (of America) were relativists, there wouldn't be this country. They didn't think their rights came from some king across the sea, "we hold these truths to be self-evident, we have these dignities, people have the truth to life, to happiness and if someone disagrees, we don't care. We don't care if they have bigger guns... we don't care, they can't take away those rights." Holiness isn't about you. It's about reminding the world that Jesus isn't a way, an opinion, an alternate lifestyle, but the way, the Truth and the life. It's about the world being reminded that there are answers to their fundamental questions about meaning: What happens when we die? Why should I hope? Do I matter?... The history of the Church is the history of saints. |
