comment (0) Ugh K-indie is so goood. Hahah fell back to listening to Hyukoh because I watched a Korean drama and then i just *had* to listen to Korean music. Forgot how amazingly smooth his voice is tbh!! Anyway, the drama is called "Beauty Inside" and has a 4/5 rating from me for the following reasons: 1. Everyone is ridiculously good-looking, even the supporting cast. 2. Cinematography is excellent. It's got depth and the match cuts are so seamless it really propels the story forward. Also everything is pretttyyy. 3. The plot! It's got an interesting premise -- a girl finds that for a week, once a month, she completely changes her appearance. One day she's fine, and the next she wakes up to find herself a young kid, an old man or old woman, a teenaged boy, a middle-aged lady etc., and this makes things really difficult because she also happens to be one of Korea's top movie stars. Ofc there's romance (duh it's kdrama), but her love interest has Prosopagnosia (inability to recognise faces after getting into an accident) so it's pretty funny to see how everything plays out! 4. The side-characters. Call me biased, but the show has a Catholic guy who happens to be discerning whether or not he's called to priesthood. How rare is that ?? And also a mean girl who's kinda badass and kind of nice at the same time. 5. The actors. Everyone in this show is A+++++ they show so much emotion in their eyes in their faces in the way their hands move. Ok so the camera likes to focus on their hands but like even their hands are emoting oh my. And because the story is about a girl who keeps changing, even the people she changes into can act! I find myself really believing that they are really the same person just in a different body. They're really good. Even the kid actor who is kyooot. Ok but warning in advance that it's sappy like a lot of sappy sometimes, but the redeeming thing is that it also focuses on having strong friendships and how sometimes our flaws can be what helps us share in the burden of another, and together we can help each other grow towards perfection. It's a pretty Catholic perspective if you think about it. Cuz we believe that when God created us, he didn't create us perfect and then suddenly Adam and Eve decided nah and then fell and then everyone became imperfect. What we believe is that Adam and Eve weren't perfect, but that all of creation incl. humans were created to move towards perfection. And when they decided to walk away from God, to doubt that He really had their best interest at heart, and sin came into the world, that was pretty devastating sure, but it didn't mean that they ruined perfection. It only meant that we would have to go through another way to be united with God in his perfection. And that way is Jesus who carried all of our burdens on the cross. That's why St. Paul could write to the Corinthians: "Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come." Anyway, super enjoyed this show. Hopelessly addicted to it? Cuz it's so well-made and super cute. But finally finisheddd and can't wait to get this outta my brain haha. |
